Brewarrina history emerges as river drops

The extreme drought has brought little but bad news to the Far West.

But there is one good news story to come out of this record drought — a surprising piece of Brewarrina history has been put on display with the help of Mother Nature.

The Wandering Jew Paddle Steamer was one of the many boats travelling the Barwon Darling system in the late 19th century.

It caught fire in 1914 and was wrecked near the Fish Traps where it has lain ever since.
