Festival showcases Bourke’s community spirit

Visitors to Bourke enjoyed a glorious Easter Festival 2019. They turned up in droves to be drenched in sweat, water and colour at the Colour Run, relaxed on the banks of the Darling to the sounds of some of our finest country artists, cheered for their wool bale rolling teams, lined the streets to watch the vintage machinery display and wrapped up the Easter Reunion weekend with a flutter on the horses at the Picnic Races. Locals, former residents, tourists, friends and families soaked up the atmosphere, the glorious weather and the unique community event that makes Bourke the place to be at Easter. Organisers say the crowd numbers were as good as ever, despite the drought conditions and the low river levels. The Jandra Paddleboat wasn’t running but there were more attractions to make up for it, including the inaugural Blues & Bluegrass Music Festival.
