The inaugural Blues and Bluegrass Festival will likely be a regular fixture on the Bourke Easter Festival calendar after it debuted at the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre on Good Friday.

Seven artists were on the bill, entertaining a steadily growing crowd from noon until the last encore at 7pm.

Organiser and performer Andrew Hull said more than 300 people were estimated to have attended the event.

“It was exactly as we wanted it to be,” Andrew said.

“We had people coming in with picnic blankets and drinks, kids and families enjoying the music at the beautiful grounds of the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre.

“It started off a little quiet, and we’d already sort of resigned ourselves to playing in front of ten or twenty people for the whole day but the numbers just kept growing and at one point I did a head count and there were more than 200 people there at some points during the Festival.
