Qld flood waters bring hope to NSW

Major flood along the Upper Warrego River in Queensland has crossed the NSW borders, bringing a ray of hope to river communities in the northern reaches of the state.

Flood waters from the Upper Warrego River are expected to cause moderate flooding at Barringun.

The Warrego River at Fords Bridge Bywash is likely to reach 2.20 metres around April 22 with minor flooding.

Based on the prediction provided by the Bureau of Meteorology it is expected that the Bourke — Hungerford Road will be closed to low clearance and family cars. Four wheel drive and high clearance vehicles may still have access with caution.

RLR 12 may be closed to all traffic at Mungunya Crossing.

The NSW SES is warning farmers and landholders to relocate livestock, pumps and machinery to higher ground. and people working or camping along the Warrego River are being warned to monitor river heights.

The SES has also issued a timely warning to motorists not to drive through flood water as it may start to flow across causeways and some local roads.
