Big Easter Party at Bourke — despite the drought

The Easter Festival promises to deliver another major boost to Bourke’s economy, rekindle old friendships and bring the community together as it toughs out the drought.
This year, the major drawcard will not only feature the Bourke Picnic Races, but a first for the Festival — a Blues and Bluegrass Music Festival.
Bourke Shire Council General Manager Ross Earl said he was excited about the long weekend’s calendar of events and was impressed with the level of commitment and enthusiasm from the various committees and volunteers who were working hard to pull the event together.
“The Easter Festival is now in its fifth year after it was initiated by Phil Parnaby as a way to bring the community together,” Mr Earl said.
“The re-opening of the Wonderland Theatre in the main street and the return of the Picnic Races were really exciting events on the calendar in those first couple of years and every year we’ve seen more events added.
