Roads and footpath upgrades in the Bourke Shire are providing a much needed boost in employment for local workers, tradesmen and contractors.
These works include continued Wanaaring Road sealing, an upgrade of the Hungerford Road and improved footpaths in Alice Edwards Village.
Bourke Council Manager of Roads Mark Gordon said the work provided opportunities for indigenous workers and was the result of funding for various Shire projects.
“The Wanaaring Road upgrade is progressing with the first section of 12.7 kilometres completed before Christmas,” Mr Gordon said.
