Hope for environmental flow for the Darling

There is still hope government officials will allow a much-needed environmental flow down the Darling River.

Bourke Council has appealed to the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder to allow an immediate release of environmental water held in state dams above Bourke.

General Manager Ross Earl said Council is well aware there are serious implications of releases into the system but has asked that the community’s dire water situation to be included in deliberations.

“We appreciate any consideration given by the Commonwealth Office,” he said “But we will continue to press our case for a flow down the river”.
