Bourke Council Secures Water Supply

With the river height at lows not seen in years, Bourke Council is taking urgent action to ensure the town water supply.
The Daring at Bourke is below 2.3 metres, with town use and evaporation expected to drop the river below 2 metres in the first week of March if not sooner.
General Manager Ross Earl said it was difficult to accurately say what the level will be given the ‘uncharted territory’ and abnormally hot weather conditions.
Once the river drops below 2 metres, level 5 water restrictions begin.
