Management of the company operating the North Bourke abattoir has refuted claims in an ABC television report that contractors are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The story also claims construction has been delayed and livelihoods compromised.

Spokesman for Capra Developments James Price has rejected the allegations, saying the company was in dispute with one supplier over the terms of a contract.

China-based steel merchant Ian Wood from Southern Cross Steel told the ABC he had launched legal proceedings over an outstanding payment of $411,000.
