Airline Service goes to tender

Airline services to Bourke are not a “pipe dream”, according to Mayor Barry Hollman.

The NSW government will call tenders next month for airlines interested in providing outback services, to honour its promise to get the services off the ground.

Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said the state government had “upped the ante” with several million dollars available to underwrite an air service.

“The airlines won’t commit for under a four or five year period so I said to Bourke, Walgett and Cobar they had to go together, don’t get picked off and in fact we won’t be supporting any airline that’s not servicing the three communities.
