Yellowbelly studio a cut above the rest
Barber shop at the front, music studio at the back – “Yellowbelly” opened in Bourke in August and the unique idea has proven to be a great success.
The startup business is supported by Nakama Arts through a private initiative funded by Tag Technical Audio Group.
Chris Hamer-Smith from Nakama Arts is based in Sydney but keeps track of what is happening at Yellowbelly and said the business is looking to expand.
“It’s tracking along well thanks to the guys on the ground down there,” Mr Hamer-Smith said.
“Alex Clark has been busy in the barber shop and Stephen Wilson and Lorraine Dutton have both been helping in the studio space.
“We’ve had the public school coming in every week to record their choir in the studio.
“We’ve also recorded the younger kids and the boys from the Clontarf program who come down every week and have recorded a bunch of songs. […]
