Wirringahs launch Yawarra Memai program

Loretta Schuler, the founding manager of the Wirringahs Aboriginal Elders Corporation, along with other elders, hosted a pivotal workshop for young girls on Wednesday, April 24.

This event, held under the banner of the newly initiated Yawarra Memai Program, meaning “Keeping the Girls Safe”, aimed to educate girls from primary school age up to late teens about the significance of culture, femininity, and safety.

The program was a culmination of community efforts and marked a significant milestone for the Wirringahs Aboriginal Elders Corporation, which recently acquired a new space leased by Barriekneal.

This venue hosts a variety of activities, including fun days like lingo bingo and other group gatherings.[…]
