Wilcannia’s revitalised River Radio teams up with 2WEB

New equipment, a new location, and an agreement with Bourke’s 2WEB has seen Wilcannia River Radio go ahead in leaps and bounds.

In 2009, Wilcannia’s River Radio Station was re-established by the community after being shut down for several years.

At the time the station was known as 103.1FM, but after consultation with the community and the broadcasters, the ‘Wilcannia River Radio’ name was born. It soon had a slogan “Keepin’ it Alive” and it is being kept alive with recent developments a huge positive for the community organisation.

Wilcannia River Radio announcer, Robert Clayton, and self-confessed radio rookie, Vesi Williams said the changes would be a significant improvement for the community station.

“In the time we have been running, things have always been changing and we’ve had to relocate many times, but now we’re going to a permanent spot,” Robert said.[…]
