Welcoming newcomers to Bourke

Bourke Shire welcomed its newest residents in a well-attended “Welcome to Bourke” function last Wednesday at the Port of Bourke Hotel.

Local community organisations, and council staff welcomed around 40 new Bourke residents at the annual event usually held in early March.

Leonie Brown, General Manager of Bourke Shire Council said the turnout was fantastic.

“It’s always an absolutely fantastic event. As well as new residents, we had community people come along,” she said. “It was great to walk around and have a chat to people who have come into our community.” […]
