“Welcome baby to Bourke” wins award

Welcome Baby to Bourke” has won the Secretary’s Award at the 25th annual NSW Health Awards.

Aboriginal Partnerships Manager at the Western NSW Health Service, Patricia Canty, could hardly contain her excitement last week after attending the NSW Health Awards and seeing “Welcome Baby to Bourke” taking out a top prize, even though the ceremony was originally nominated in another category.

“Welcome Baby to Bourke was a finalist in the Excellence of Aboriginal Health category,” Mrs Canty said. “We weren’t the recipient of that award, but the most exciting thing was that our Secretary of New South Wales Health has her own award, which is highly contested – and we were very fortunate we were the recipient of that award.”
