Walgett’s Charlie Friend picked to play for NSW

Charlie Friend from the Walgett Rams Rugby Union Club, is taking his playing prowess to the next level, having been selected for the 2024 Cockatoos Country Representative squad.

For Charlie, it is his second selection in the state competition.

“Each year a NSW Country Championship competition is held, and from there they pick a NSW squad,” Charlie said. “We played as a Western Plains side, and I was lucky enough to get picked from there.”

“I played for the NSW Country side two years ago down in Adelaide and we got into the final that year but went down against ACT.

Charlie was injured last year and didn’t make the squad but said he’s looking forward to the interstate. […]
