Vintage vehicles to shine at Bourke Show

One of the highlights of this year’s Bourke Show will be vintage vehicle “Show ‘n’ Shine” run by Bourke’s very active Historic Vehicle Club.

According to Club Secretary, Liz Kerr, last year was the first “Show ‘n’ Shine” at the Bourke Show, with about 50 vehicles on display.

“We would like to have the same level of participation this year or more if we can.

“People travelled from Broken Hill, Narromine, Dubbo, Cobar and then a few surprise entrants came off properties in the district which was really nice,” Liz said.

“One of those young blokes is now a member of the club, and that is what we would like to encourage.

“We want to foster an interest for all these guys that are around us out on the properties with hidden gems in their sheds to bring them in and show them off, and maybe get a bit of excitement to do them up.

Liz said that one of the highlights of the event is Neil Driscoll’s collection of vehicles.

“And last year, one of the crowd favorites was a vehicle entered by a former Bourke resident, Greg McIntyre, who is now at Narromine.

“Greg entered an old truck that was originally used at the North Bourke shop.

“It still has some of the original paintwork and it was a great historic thing for Bourke, so people really liked it,” Liz said.

Liz said that entrants don’t need to nominate a category for their vehicle as the judges will determine what category best suits.

“It may be that you win a category you are not expecting,” Liz said.

The only hoop you must jump over is whether your vehicle over or under 30 years old.

Judges are not club members and are drawn from around the district.

There will be a BBQ on site for everyone coming to see what is bound to be a great exhibition of vehicles old and new.

Entries open from 10am with judging starting at 12noon.

The “Show ‘n’ Shine” will be located near the entrance to the show ground and there is a category for just about every type of vehicle on offer, including:
