Tennis returns to Bourke this winter

After a long hiatus since before COVID, the Bourke Tennis Club (BTC) is looking to reignite a love for tennis in the community. BTC committee member Anthony Azevedo said tennis offered great social and health benefits, and the club is calling for expressions of interest from anyone keen to get back on court.

“With Wimbledon in full swing, now is the perfect time to be inspired and pick up a racquet!” Anthony said.

“Whether you’re a seasoned player or haven’t played in years, the tennis club is keen to provide a friendly, relaxed environment for players of all levels to enjoy the game.”

It’s been a long time since the courts hosted the last love-set and match but recent improvements and an increasing number of young families in Bourke has encourage the club to put the call out for new players and members.

“We’re hoping to get tennis up and going again in some capacity,” Anthony said.

“We want to be able to do something that provides a social outlet while also helping people lift their fitness a bit — I know I could use it myself!

“Social sport options have dwindled since COVID, and we hope to help in a small way — particularly for those who may have young families, as I do — by offering something in a space where people feel their kids are safe.”[…]
