Set the date for Enngonia Races on September 9

It’s almost time to get the form guide out, put on your race day best and head to the 75th Enngonia race meeting on September 9 for a day of fun, fashion, and horse racing.

The track has been checked and given the thumbs up, and the Enngonia Race Club committee has been hard at work making sure the event attracts a big crowd, and plenty of jockeys, horses, and trainers.

Enngonia race club secretary Will Ridge said increased incentives for jockeys and trainers would hopefully see good fields contesting all six races on the day.

Prizemoney totals a generous $90,000 with the main race, the Dunk Insurance Cup over 1400 metres paying out $30,000, with a $15,000 purse for the winner.

“It’s all coming together really well, and we’ve been lucky to have a great committee and the track looking really good as well,” Will said.

“We hope to attract jockeys and trainers, with a $75 cash rebate for each race the jockey enters, so if he or she is in all six races that’s $450. There’s also a prize of $500 for the most successful jockey.

“For the trainers, we’re offering a $250 rebate for each horse they have in a race, and $1,000 for the most successful trainer.

“It’s about looking after the trainers and jockeys and helping to offset some of their costs.[…]
