Premier tours Walgett, Brewarrina, and Bourke
NSW Premier Chris Minns and Minister for Agriculture Tara Moriarty flew into Walgett last week, then travelled via Brewarrina to Bourke for a Round Table discussion on the Regional Development Act.
Around forty people attended the gathering, including representatives from Bogan, Cobar, Brewarrina, and Bourke Shire Councils, people from other interested organisations and Member for Barwon, Roy Butler.
Premier Minns and his party had met with Walgett Shire earlier that day to discuss local issues including the Walgett pool.
Brewarrina Shire Council Mayor Vivian Slack-Smith said updating the Regional Development Act was the primary topic of conversation at the Round Table discussion.
The Regional Development Act deals with providing financial assistance to regions for economic development.
“As you can imagine, as the Act was made in 2004, it is pretty outdated,” Ms Slack-Smith said.
“Western New South Wales is an entity that should be considered important, so it was good to get our points across about what mattered to us.” […]
