The Back O’Bourke Picnic Races are off and racing with preparations for the return at this year’s Back O’Bourke Easter Festival.
Race Club President Frank Kerr says things will be full-on from here with lots of track work to be done, in time for the track inspection by NSW Racing on the 17th March.
“Given that it’s been a while since the track has been worked, with the cancellation of last year’s races, a track inspection will be necessary.
“We are grading the track at present, as well as straightening and preparing all the running rails.
“We’ll also be checking and preparing the barriers for race day and attending to all the final touches at our working bee on Saturday 27th March.
The Back O’Bourke Picnic Race Club is calling for community members to volunteer and to get involved with the club.
“Even if people don’t want to become members of the committee or club, we’re happy just to have people come out and volunteer some time and help out and be part of a really great community event.
“A huge thank you goes out to all the race club committee members who do volumes of work behind the scenes before we even see a change on the ground,” Mr Kerr said.
