A new recruit has joined the team of pilots at Air Link Airlines – the airline that serves Bourke, Walgett and Lightning Ridge with regular weekly air services.

Dubbo-based pilot Ben Richard has been with Air Link for just under a month and Ben flew to Bourke last Thursday with Senior Air Link Base Pilot Terri Warne.

Ben said he has been flying professionally for a few years now and his first job was in Western Australia.

“My last job was my first flying job, and this is my second after I gained some more hours and experience,” Ben said.

“In my last flying job in WA I was doing lots of scenic flights, aerial spotting for sharks, humpback whales and that sort of thing.”

Ben said that his favourite part of the job was ‘definitely the flying’. […]
