New Nationals candidate for Parkes tours the electorate
The new Nationals candidate for Parkes, Jamie Chaffey has been touring the electorate, familiarising himself with the electorate.
Mr Chaffey, previous Mayor of Gunnedah, is running for the seat of Parkes, which Mark Coulton held for 17 years.
Mr Chaffey is married with four children and said it was the right time for him to enter Federal politics.
“I think I’d have to be the luckiest candidate out there in the field at the moment,” he said.
“It’s been six weeks since I was endorsed, I’ve been as active as I can be, and currently there are no other candidates for the seat of Parkes.”
Mr Chaffey toured Walgett, Lightning Ridge, Goodooga Brewarrina and Bourke, and on his visit to Lightning Ridge, he described the area as ‘full of hidden gems and not all of them are opals.’
At the Ridge, Mr Chaffey had an underground mine tour of Chambers of the Black Hand.
“The hand-carved sculptures by artist Ron Canlin are mind blowing – such a great experience,” Mr Chaffey said. “To top it off, I also ran into Sam from Outback Opal Hunters.” […]
