New Maranguka CEO faces big challenges
The new CEO of Maranguka has admitted current strategies to combat youth crime in the town are failing.
Matt Davidson took on the role four weeks ago as anger and frustration rises in the community over the level of violent crime and the failure of the justice system.
Mr Davidson said he would be reaching out to the community for solutions as well as collaborating with police, youth, justice, welfare organisations and other stakeholders to ensure Maranguka is the principal organisation driving change.
“We’re trying to navigate a way forward as an organisation to help and it’s not easy, but the wheels are turning and we are doing what we can to make a difference,” Mr Davidson said.
“In the heat of the moment it is challenging, but organisations like Maranguka are so necessary to make that difference.
“I am new to the role, and I don’t want to come out and make big bold statements, but I have tremendous faith in the organisation and in Alistair Ferguson, but it is definitely challenging.
