The Junior Rangers Program is all about giving Aboriginal students at Lightning Ridge Central School the chance to deepen their cultural knowledge while building skills linked to the national curriculum.

Launched at the school in term three, the program blends traditional classroom learning with on-Country experiences, designed to foster stronger cultural identity and connection to land.

Aboriginal Community Connector Angie Newman is facilitating the program on behalf of the Lightning Ridge Local Aboriginal Land Council, with support from Relieving Aboriginal Education Officer Jessica Brown.

Students first joined the program through the school’s Friday Clubs – a time set aside for extracurricular activities of their choice. Ten students were selected after submitting expressions of interest, taking part in activities with Elders and cultural knowledge holders. […]
