Good rainfall for Bourke, Bre and Walgett Shires

There’s been plenty of rain across the region, with the heavy falls at Bourke delivering 46.4mms on Sunday and Monday – well above Bourke’s July average of 14.6mm.

Additional good falls were reported around Louth, which received over 40mm, Rose Isle Station near Louth 57mm, Brewarrina 25mm, Wirricanna near Brewarrina 38mms, Walgett 18.6mms and Lightning Ridge 26mm.

Weatherzone meteorologist, Felix Levesque said weekend rainfall of 25 to 50mms was spread across much of northwestern NSW and southern Queensland.

“It’s nice to get some rainfall across the region and though it may lead to some minor to maybe moderate flooding, it’s much welcome,” Mr Levesque said.

“The rain should ease off with drier westerly winds behind the low-pressure trough which has brought all that rainfall.

“As the week goes on, we should generally see plenty of sunshine, which will bring temperatures into the mid to high teens across northwestern New South Wales and close to 20 degrees over southern Queensland and generally dry.”

Greg Seiler from Nutrien Ag Solutions, Bourke, said the rain was ideal for local farmers which could lead to positive outcomes later in the year.
