Enngonia residents get free Snake Bite Kits

The Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) delivered a snake bite information session to the residents and school children of Enngonia last week.

BACHS also distributed over 30 snake bite kits for Enngonia households for this upcoming summer season.

As the weather heats up, there have been numerous sightings of brown snakes coming out of hibernation and are now on the move around the area.

Earlier this year, BACHS executive and clinical team sat down with members of Enngonia including Taryn Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of Muruwari Local Aboriginal Land Council to discuss health priorities.

BACHS Community Nurse Amanda Zaky ran the snake bite information session with BACHS social and emotional wellbeing officer Kerry King and reflected on the importance of sharing vital lifesaving skills with residents of Enngonia.

“It’s a momentous occasion to deliver such lifesaving skills to residents of Enngonia,” Ms Zaky said.[…]
