Duck Creek Races raises $40k for Macquarie Home Stay
The Macquarie Home Stay charity has received a massive donation thanks to the Duck Creek Picnic Race Club.
The race meet was held at the Nyngan racecourse on July 6, with more than 4,700 people pouring through the gate, and raising an astonishing $40,000 for Macquarie Home Stay.
Club President Rowen Cleaver said he was overwhelmed at the success of the race meeting and the generosity of the community in supporting the races and the Home Stay charity.
“It’s been a great year and it was a great race meeting,” Rowen said.
“We had a full field for the race card, which was fantastic because it’s not easy getting jockeys, but there were plenty there this year.
“We had a very successful Fashions on the Field event which was really popular, and the highlight of the whole race day was probably the live music.
“We had an Australian music cover band called Furnace and the Fundamentals and they had probably three thousand people dancing away in the arena and having a great time.
“They were excellent and the whole day was fantastic.
