Council elections this Saturday
Voters in the Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett Shires are reminded that the Local Government Elections will take place this Saturday, September 14th.
Though they seem to come around quickly, Local Government Elections are only held in NSW on the second Saturday in September every four years.

Fourteen candidates were nominated for election to the 10 positions on Bourke Shire Council, at Brewarrina there are 11 nominations for 9 positions and at Walgett, 13 nominations have been received for nine positions.
At Bourke, nine of the current sitting councillors have renominated – Victor Bartley, Sarah Barton, Sally Davis, Cecil Dorrington, Lachlan Ford, Sam Rice, Grace Ridge, Nathan Ryan, and Bob Stutsel.
Five new nominations have come from Pat Bates-Canty, Kylie Baty, Frank Kerr, Scott McAdam, and Maxime Nina.
Bourke’s current Mayor Barry Hollman has stepped down and is not running for reelection. […]
