The multi-agency hazard reduction burn of the Bourke levee planned for last Saturday, went ahead as planned with the favourable weather conditions providing optimum conditions for the burn.

The NSW Rural Fire Service in conjunction with the Police, Fire + Rescue NSW and Bourke Shire Council joined forces to coordinate the controlled burn.

Weather forecasts predicted the optimum conditions for the burn were on Saturday 7th November, and preparations were undertaken with clearing and protection works carried out in the weeks prior to the burn.
