Burren Junction welcomes new café
In the picturesque town of Burren Junction, nestled within the Walgett Shire, a wave of excitement ripples through the community as it embraces a new café.
The spotlight falls upon Café on Waterloo, a thriving establishment that has graced the town for five flourishing months, swiftly earning its place as a cherished epicentre for culinary delights and friendly gatherings.
In 2017, Eileen Lane and her husband David acquired the building that once housed the local bowling club.
Little progress was made renovating the building due to the challenges of drought and the arrival of the pandemic.
“This was the year we committed to opening our doors,” Eileen said.
“We stripped the floors, breathed new life into the walls with fresh coats of paint, and now here we stand.” Eileen reflects with a smile.
The prime objective was to engage with travellers and visitors camping near the bore baths—a goal that has been achieved.
The vision for the future is outdoor dining for travellers with pets, and there is room for extra dining or function areas inside.
Residents are now drawn to the café for a coffee fix and the joy of reconnecting with fellow community members. […]
