Bre rolls out the red carpet
The annual Welcome to Brewarrina event, held last week, was a great opportunity for people to put names to faces of new community members.
Mayor of Brewarrina Shire, Vivian Slack-Smith said council hosted less numbers at the RSL than is usual, but the event was still a great success.
“We have new people in town in roles like police, ambos and teachers and it gives them the chance to get to know us and each other,” Councillor Slack-Smith said.
“Council put on some nibbles and prawns, and I got around to everyone on the night to find out why they had moved to Bre and to welcome them on behalf of the community.
“We had reps from businesses come in and the event just seems to work really well. It’s a great atmosphere and we give our newcomers a welcome pack to go home with. It will definitely be on again next year.”
