Bourke hosts police awards ceremony

In a moving ceremony filled with pride, reflection, and gratitude, more than 20 police officers and support staff from across western New South Wales were recognised for their dedication and bravery at the Central North Police District Awards Ceremony, held last week in Bourke.
Hosted at the Bourke Exhibition Centre, the event was led by District Commander-Superintendent Gerard Lawson. It was his first awards ceremony since being appointed District Commander of Central North Police District – a command that covers 24 per cent of the entire state.
“I could not be prouder to stand here in front of you,” Superintendent Lawson said in his address. “Today is about acknowledging the work done by our police and citizens in keeping those communities safe.”
The ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland APM, Superintendent Tim Chinn of Orana Mid-West Police District, Bourke Mayor Lachlan Ford, and members of the Bourke Tribal Council, including Aunty Margo Grimes and Aunty Dawn Smith, alongside police chaplains, colleagues, families, and community leaders. {…]
