Bourke Abattoirs host Bourke High students

Students from Bourke High School are gaining valuable insight into local employment pathways, thanks to a new partnership with Thomas Foods International (TFI) through the school’s Workplace Learning program.

The collaboration, supported by Clontarf and the NSW Department of Education’s Educational Pathways Program (EPP), recently saw students take part in an Industry Immersion Program at TFI’s Bourke meat-processing facility.

Careers Advisor Anna McCorkle highlighted the importance of community support in making these opportunities possible.

“Site visits, work experience and placements are only possible with the support of local employers and businesses,” Ms McCorkle said. “We deeply appreciate the contribution of our local employers.”

A key milestone this year has been the introduction of the Industry Immersion Program, developed in partnership with TFI.

“A highlight this year has been the launch of our Industry Immersion Program with local employer Thomas Foods International. Students were introduced to the employers online via a Teams meeting, then they toured the plant,” Ms McCorkle said. […]
