Be prepared – a severe bushfire season is upon us!
The Rural Fire Service has put communities across the North and Far West of NSW on alert, warning that the upcoming bushfire season is likely to be a tough one.
With the recent years of good rainfall increasing the growth of fuel, and expected dry, hot conditions, the RFS says there is an increased risk of severe fires.
In some parts of the northwest NSW region, the bushfire danger season has already begun, and in Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar and the Unincorporated Area, the danger season officially begins on October 1.
Walgett, Coonamble, Warren, and Bogan Shires are already in the bushfire danger season, and many other regions are expected to join them soon.
No matter where you are located, RFS Acting District Manager for the North West Region, Greg Cassidy, is urging people to be prepared.
