Summer fun in Brewarrina

For the children of Brewarrina, life is looking like a lot of fun, with new facilities in the town reaching completion – and two of them are absolutely free.

The new skate park opened on Thursday August 13 and next month the swimming pool opens early, with a brand-new splash park and free admittance.

Brewarrina Shire Council General Manager Jeff Sowiak said the idea was to improve facilities for the young people of Brewarrina in particular, and to get as many people using the facilities as possible.

“We had a soft opening of the skate park last week and we are inviting the children to come down and try it out,” Mr Sowiak said.

“We’ve taken the fences down, the concrete has cured, the lawn and the landscaping has been completed and after the small ceremony, it’s open for the kids to use. We’ll have a formal opening after the COVID-19 restrictions ease hopefully a little later in the year.

“The upgrade to the splash park continues, after a small hiccup that held things up a bit,” Mr Sowiak said.
