Kayaking down the Darling

Kayaker, author and adventurer, Mike Bremer arrived in Bourke on Monday afternoon via the mighty Darling River.

Mike is kayaking down the Darling, starting at Brewarrina on Tuesday 11th August, and travelling at approximately 30 kilometres per day. The journey so far has covered 205km by river.

On arrival at the Bourke Wharf, Mike’s first comment was “today was a beautiful day compared to yesterday, which was not good, yesterday was really cold and there were strong headwinds”.

“I had trouble finding places to land, trying to find somewhere dry, as the banks are so steep and muddy.
