A Community Footy Fun Day at Davidson Oval last Thursday afternoon was a big hit with Bourke’s youngsters.

The Fun Day was organised by Creative Community Concepts in conjunction with NSW Rugby League.

Twenty-six children attended the clinic and had an action-packed afternoon engaging in footy for fun for the under five-year olds, rugby league skills clinics, league tag, laser tag and other team building activities.

Kyle Myers from Creative Community Concepts said he was pleased with the turnout.

“The kids were all keen and very co-operative and really wanted to play,” he said.

“Sport plays such a big part of a child’s life and since the coronavirus, kids have been limited and not been able to get out and play sports.

“In all our clinics lately, we are seeing a massive rise in the numbers of participants and I’m sure it’s a consequence of the limitations from COVID-19.

“Because of COVID we haven’t been able to get on the road and work with the families in regional NSW. We’ve been really restricted. I think they call it ‘cabin fever!

“It was just really great to get back at it again.

“To see the laughs and smiles on the kid’s faces makes us feel good.

“It’s so rewarding to see the kids having fun being active again,” Kyle said.
