Covid-19 Pandemic – More testing in Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett

Residents of Bourke and Brewarrina again had the opportunity to be tested for COVID-19 last week.

A total of 31 local people were tested last Thursday at a drive-through testing clinic set up across from the Bourke Men’s Shed in Mitchell Street.

Western NSW Local Health District are keen to test anyone experiencing even the mildest of symptoms, to stop the spread of COVID-19.

58 people were tested in Bourke at the previous testing clinic in early July.

Western NSW Local Health also set up drive through testing last Tuesday in Brewarrina, where 21 people were tested, and at Walgett on Wednesday where 19 people were tested.

Western NSW Local Health Officer Dan Kelly said that NSW Health were thankful for the way the Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett communities supported the program.

“It was well-received again,” Mr Kelly said, “we need community members to get tested, for the program to be successful”.

“We are really grateful for each of the towns’ support – it shows everyone is taking responsibility for keeping themselves and their community safe,” Mr Kelly said.

Further COVID-19 mobile testing took place this week in Nyngan on Tuesday, at Lightning Ridge on Wednesday and at Collarenebri today.
