Hopes are high that Bourke’s keen lawn bowlers will be back on the green soon.

Although practice sessions have now been officially sanctioned, competition bowls has not yet been approved.

But Secretary Manager of the Bourke Bowling Club, Lacey Orcher said she was hopeful those restrictions would soon be lifted.

Some of the restrictions inside the club have already been eased regarding the serving of food and alcohol, but on the greens, it’s still a waiting game.

“We are hoping to get some bowls back up and going but at this stage it is still only practice,” Lacey said.

“There’s no club or championship competition games allowed to be played and there are restrictions in place.

“We are allowed ten people on the green and we are hoping as people start coming back to the club and getting regular again, that hopefully the bowls will pick up and expand and allow us to get back to our championships.

“It’s not going to be easy and there’s going to be a lot of explaining to do with people, but what can you do? You just have to take it day by day,” she said.
