Premier speaks out on 2WEB

The bush will play a big part in NSW’s recovery after COVID-19 according to Premier Gladys Berejiklian. And the NSW Premier specifically sought an interview with Wayne Harrison on 2WEB’s Outback Mornings program – knowing that the 2WEB has such a wide and enthusiastic audience across outback New South Wales.

Speaking on 2WEB last week, the Premier said agriculture would be one of the economic drivers as the state makes its way out of the downturn forced by the closure of scores of businesses and industries in response to the pandemic.

“Ironically, many industries which are more dominant in rural and regional communities are doing well,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“We find agricultural services increasing and the boost for infrastructure projects and clean-up following fires and floods is providing economic stimulus.

“Agricultural services have seen a rebirth and a number of regions have had rain and that’s positive and has given us optimism.

“Much of the state is still impacted by drought but the rain has given some hope and relatively speaking the bush is holding its own.

“Although that recovery differs across the state a lot of businesses that are active in regional and rural NSW have been able to maintain their activities during the COVID restrictions.
