Business shutdown hits home at Wanaaring

The shutdown of the tourism industry has had far reaching effects on businesses across the Far West which rely on the annual winter migration of caravanners and campers.

For the owners of the Wanaaring Store and Caravan Park, Kathy and Col Brown, the timing has been particularly hard.

The couple and four of their grandchildren moved from Brisbane last year to start a new life in the outback and while they are loving the open space, the COVID-19 crisis has been tough.

“We’re having a real struggle getting supplies for the store, especially fresh fruit and vegetables,” Kathy said.
