Bourke Council promotes weir project

Bourke Shire Council has called for the consultation and planning phase of the Western Weirs Program to be expedited, so that better water infrastructure can be built.

General Manager Ross Earl said Bourke Shire Council was in the process of determining what it would cost to build a completely new weir at Bourke to increase water storage.

The Western Weirs Program is an initiative of the NSW Government which has committed to a review of the weirs along the Barwon and Darling rivers to better manage community water supplies.
