Fingers and toes are crossed in the hope the PV Jandra will be ready to cruise down the Darling River during Bourke’s Easter reunion Festival.

Bourke Shire Council General Manager Ross Earl said he was hopeful the Jandra would be in action for the first time in two years.

“The boat is currently in dry dock and that was because as the river dropped we didn’t want it sitting on the bottom of the river and potentially being damaged, so we put it into dry dock for a round of maintenance,” Mr Earl said.

“We are currently trying to schedule some additional maintenance – what is called a survey – and we’ll have an inspector come out and make sure the craft is fine.
