Bourke’s Australia Day honour roll includes the village award, which recognises the outstanding contribution of a resident to their local community and this year Enngonia’s Lynn Mallon was the deserving recipient.
Lynn has worked tirelessly for her community, making sure local families stay connected, have the resources they need and have a voice that gets heard when it needs to be.
Lynn is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Enngonia Progress Association, a position she’s held for more than ten years. The organisation unites the small Enngonia community and it is Lynn’s guiding hand that sees it play a vital role in the village.
“To be honest, I was in shock when I received the award,” Lynn said.
“I didn’t think I was good enough to be included on an honour roll on Australia Day and I was so surprised I can’t remember what was said to me when I came up to get the award!”
