Making the most of the Ministers

Having every NSW Cabinet Minister in Bourke last week meant local organisations were able to showcase what they do with the people who make the decisions on funding and policy.

Commander of Central North Policing District Superintendent Andrew Hurst had the opportunity to tour Police Minister David Elliot through the Bourke police station last Monday.

“It was an informal look around the station and a chance for a meet and greet with the troops and staff,” Superintendent Hurst said.

“We were very appreciative of the visit to Bourke by the Police Minister who will now have a better understanding of the work we do within our community,” he said.

Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward was keen to meet as many local people as possible during the tour of Bourke, with an impromptu visit to the Bourke Laundry Service.

Minister Ward said he was impressed with the skills and commitment of management at the Laundry Service and the enthusiasm of the laundry staff, many of whom have a disability.

“It was a pleasure to visit the team at Bourke Laundry to see first-hand how they’re empowering people with disabilities to achieve their career goals,” Minister Ward said.
