A project to rebuild natural weirs along the Barwon Darling River is likely to get the go ahead following the successful passage through parliament of the Critical Needs Bill 2019.
The Bill was supported by Member for Barwon Roy Butler who said the Bill went through the State Legislative Council last week with amendments in the Legislative Assembly to include Bourke, Walgett, Warren and Cobar.
“The Bill means that for the towns listed any hurdles or planning obstacles can be overcome easily and we’ll get accelerated planning, the projects will get done and those communities will have secure water supplies, which is awesome,” Mr Butler said.
