Bourke crews help in bushfire devastation

As the worst bush fires on record continue to burn across large areas of New South Wales, firefighters and staff from the Far West Rural Fire Service have been involved in the front line, helping save lives and property.

Bourke fire fighters Matthew Whitbread and Michelle Johnston are among the crews which have had multiple deployments involving brigades from Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar, Silverton and Wilcannia.

Far West District Coordinator Inspector Craig Warwick praised the efforts of the crew members and said many were exhausted after months on the front line.
