New water tower for Bourke

Bourke Shire Council will receive $1.35 million towards the$1.8million cost of building a new water tower, or reservoir, to replace the old, existing water tower in Charles Street.

The funding has been announced as part of the NSW Government’s Safe & Secure Water program for north-west New South Wales.

Bourke Shire Council General Manager Ross Earl says the old water tower is past its “use-by-date”, and no longer suitable for the town’s water supply needs.

“Council has been wanting to update this 60-year-old water reservoir for some time, and we appreciate the funding that Minister Pavey has made available through the Safe & Secure Water Program.
