Desalination plant operational by summer

A desalination plant for Bourke should be operational before the end of the year. Bourke Shire Council General Manager Ross Earl said the State government had agreed to fund the installation of the plant with Public Works Advisory looking after the planning and procurement process to get it to operational status.

“The desalination plant will enable Council to address some of the water quality issues that have been raised in the community,” Mr Earl said.

“It will reduce the amount of salt in the water, improving taste and hopefully will allay some health concerns.
